Students urged to drink and drive responsibly
NASSAU, The Bahamas – The importance of drinking and driving responsibly was underscored to students of the University of The Bahamas (UB) during a forum Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The university’s Office of First Year Experience and Programmes along with Commonwealth Brewery hosted the open forum at Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre, Auditorium. All-Star Alumni Chefs Dinner’ in Honour of the Leadership Legacy of UB’s Dr. Rodney Smith
NASSAU, The Bahamas — An ‘All-Star Alumni Chefs Dinner’ in honour of University of the Bahamas President Dr. Rodney Smith was held, July 28, 2022, at Choices Training Restaurant at the UB Oakes Field Campus. The dinner ceremonies honoured the leadership legacy of Dr. Smith, who has served as President of the University of The Bahamas for the last eight years, the longest serving president of the institution. The ceremony honoured his leadership tenure and deep commitment to expanding access to tertiary education. Dr. Smith’s tenure as President of UB ends at the end of July 2022.
First-ever Conference of Youth on Climate Change opens in The Bahamas

First Distinguished Lecture Series Held, Celebrating Bahamas 49th Independence
NASSAU, The Bahamas – As part of The Bahamas 49th Independence Celebrations, under the theme ‘Proud to Be Bahamian’, the first in a series of Distinguished Lectures was held Tuesday, July 5, 2022. The lecture took place at the Harry C. Moore Library of the University of The Bahamas under the theme: “The Road to Independence”. Distinguished Guest Lecturers were Evangelist Rex Major, OBE, MM, and Rev. Dr. Philip Rahming, OBE, CB, JP. Both spoke about their experiences growing up pre-independence and, thereafter, in an independent Bahamas as of Independence Day, July 10, 1973.
