Ministry of Transport & Housing re-Launching National Road Safety Programme

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Ministry of Transport & Housing will re-launch a comprehensive national road safety programme under the theme, ‘Slow Down, Stay Alive.’  The objective of the programme is to reduce the number of traffic accidents and fatalities on the roads in the country.  In his capacity as the Acting Minister of Transport & Housing, State Minister for Legal Affairs, Hon. Jomo Campbell, made the announcement during his contribution to the mid-year Budget communication, March 1, 2023 in the House of Assembly. Ministry of Transport Offers Licensing Opportunity for Taxi and Livery Drivers

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Ministry of Transport and Housing held a licensing opportunity Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Loyola Hall, Gladstone Road, for taxi and livery drivers who have been working 15 years to 20 years with a leased licence. Minister of Transport and Housing the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis said “the process is an open and transparent one to illuminate and eradicate the under-the-table foolishness.” Minister Coleby-Davis said after numerous meetings with both the Taxi Union president and Livery Drivers Union president, it was decided that in order to clarify union members as entrepreneurs, this process had to take place.
