Work of NAECOB critical in ensuring high standards in education, says Minister Hanna-Martin

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Over 100 schools in New Providence, public and private, and some 30 plus schools in Freeport have been inspected by The National Accreditation and Equivalency Council (NAECOB) to ensure high quality standards for the delivery of education. “We will cover every island, every cay in this country to make certain that the facilities that we send our children to are adequate, conducive for learning, safe and sound for education,” said Thelma Grimes, chairperson, NAECOB. “We are going to head to Cat Island and all the others before June.This is our announced visit. Students Showcase their Vocal Talent at the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Scores of students showcased their vocal talents and abilities, during the first week of the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival New Providence adjudications, held at the All Saint’s Hall, East Street South.  Vocal Adjudicator Adrian Archer judged soloists, duets and choirs all singing Bahamian, pop and gospel songs, and original rap, while their fellow students and a number of supportive parents and teachers cheered them on.  Also present were members of the Festival’s Secretariat from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Division of Cultural Affairs, as well as Division officers and staff giving their support. BAMSI supports school agriculture programs, with donation of livestock

NASSAU, The Bahamas – In keeping with the Government’s efforts to foster food security and sustainability, the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) presented livestock to three schools Monday, March 13, 2023. H.O. Nash Junior High School and C.V. Bethel Senior High School were the recipients of piglets and St. Augustine’s College received laying hens. MOE’s CTE Month – ‘Sustainable Development Through Trades’

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational Training’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) section held an opening ceremony for its two-day CTE Month symposium and exhibition at Holy Trinity Activity Centre, February 16, 2023. Held under the theme, “sustainable development through trades” the symposium highlighted the talent of school-aged children participating in business studies, family and consumer science education and technical studies. Officially opened by Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational training the Hon. Zane Lightborne, the symposium and exhibition is one of several activities marking the CTE Month of February.

First “Labour on the Campus” launched to prepare students for the job market

Education Ministry Undertaking a Learning Loss Assessment to Review the Impact of COVID-19 on Education

NASSAU, Bahamas — Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training the Hon. Steel Pan workshop held for music teachers of Grand Bahama

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas — The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture is seeking to revive the culture of steel-panning in The Bahamas by hopefully reintroducing the creative art into the educational system. Under the auspices of the Bahamas Ministry of Culture, with the tutelage of Nevin Roach, of Barbados, music teachers throughout Grand Bahama were given a basic, yet in-depth, crash course on steel-panning. 100 Laptops to Ministry of Education from FTX Digital Markets

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Teachers in the public school system will be the recipients of 100 laptops donated to the Ministry of Education by FTX Digital Markets.
