Illegal building construction in Blackwood will not be tolerated says Works and Utilities Minister

Alfred Sears is appealing to persons responsible for unregulated construction of buildings in the Blackwood community of north Eleuthera to cease. Minister of Works leads inspection of infrastructure projects in Eleuthera; and discussion at Town Hall Meeting on plans for Glass Window Bridge

ELEUTHERA, The Bahamas — The Hon. Alfred Sears, Minister of Works and Utilities leads a delegation in Eleuthera today where he is inspecting various sites including docks, administrative buildings, residences, dilapidated structures and other infrastructure projects. Minister Sears underscored that the trip is  a “priority” and not “ceremonial”. The delegation includes Water and Sewerage Chairman and Deputy Speaker Sylvanus Petty; Bacchus Rolle, Parliamentary Secretary; Luther Smith, Permanent Secretary; technical officers and senior officials from the Ministry.  Minister Sears is also expected to attend a Town Hall Meeting in the evening to discuss plans for the Glass Window Bridge.

Astec Asphalt Plant Commissioned by Minister of Works and Utilities

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Bahamix ’s new Astec Asphalt Plant is expected to improve the company’s credibility and reliability to its customers. The Hon. Alfred Sears, Minister of Works and Utilities, ceremonially commissioned the plant at the northern compound of Bahamix, Fire Trail Road west, Friday, September 16, 2022. Minister Sears said the Astec Double Barrel Six Pack Asphalt Plant, a state-of-the-art production facility, is a “major” development that was a long time in the works. Bahamian Delegation Lobby US Congress and Senate for Appropriation of Financial Assistance for Hurricane Restoration and Mitigation

On Monday and Tuesday, June 12th and 13th 2022, a Bahamian ministerial delegation comprising Minister of Works & Utilities Alfred M. Sears, QC, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, Frederick Mitchell, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Ryan Pinder, Ambassador Wendall Jones and their respective technical and support staff met with various US Government officials in Washington, D.C.
