Legal Year officially opens in Northern Region

GRAND BAHAMA, The Bahamas — The legal year officially opened in the Northern Region with a religious service at Pro-Cathedral of Christ the King on Friday, January 13, 2023. The legal fraternity kicked off the momentous opening ceremonies with a procession from the Garnet Levarity Centre to the church — led by the Hon. Mr. Chief Justice, Sir Ian Winder. The Judiciary, was joined in the ecumenical service by the Bahamas Bar Association, Minister for Grand Bahama the Hon. Legal Year Officially Opens, with Changes Forecast

NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Legal Year of the country’s judiciary is officially opened. A ceremony marking the event was held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.  The ceremonies included a Church Service at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street; Inspection of the Guard on George Street; and a Special Sitting to mark the opening in the Compass Ballroom of Margaritaville Beach Resort (chosen as a venue because of flooding in the Supreme Court Building on Bank Lane).  On Sunday, January 8, members of the Judiciary worshiped at the annual Red Mass held at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, conducted by Roman Catholic Archbishop of Nassau, the Most Reverend Patrick C.
