Prime Minister Davis says new land had to be sought out to construct GB’s new hospital

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas — Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis says his plans for breaking ground for a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Grand Bahama by the end of this fiscal period was hampered because of land issues. During a press conference at the Ministry of Grand Bahama, on Friday, June 17, 2022, for the $1.6 million contract signing for the renovation of the morgue at the Rand Memorial Hospital, the Prime Minister noted that the government had to seek out other land on which to construct the proposed new hospital. “The last time I was here, I mentioned that we would be breaking ground soon on a new hospital,” said Prime Minister Davis. “The (Health) Minister will tell you that I wanted to do that before the end of this fiscal year in June...

The Prime Minister pays respects at Lie-in-Repose of Dr. Eugene Newry

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis paid last respects at Lie-in-Repose ceremonies for the Late Dr. Eugene Newry, former diplomat, educator and neurosurgeon, at Bethel Brothers Morticians, June 16, 2022.  Pictured, the Prime Minister signs the Book of Condolence, pays respects, and greets son of Dr. Newry, Eugene Torchon-Newry, and members of the family. A State-Recognized Funeral will be held June 17 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with interment at the Catholic Cemetery, Tyler Street.    The service will be broadcast live via ZNS Radio Network from the cathedral, beginning at 11 a.m.
