Conclusion of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training in New Bight

NEW BIGHT, Cat Island — Participants in the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of Local Government’s five-day Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training are shown hard at work in New Bight Thursday. The Training opened Monday and concluded Friday (August 26) with a Final Drill (Simulation Exercise), Closing Ceremonies and Presentation of Certificates and CERT Toolkits. Conducted by the Agency’s Training Unit, headed by Mrs. Lisa Bowleg, the CERT Training covered areas such as Disaster Medical Operations, Fire Safety and Utility Controls, Disaster Preparedness, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, CERT and Terrorism and Light Search and Rescue. UNESCO announces first phase of ‘Man and Biosphere’ project for Cat Island

NASSAU, The Bahamas – A Biosphere Reserve is underway in Cat Island. The Bahamas National Commission for UNESCO announced plans for the joint project with Young Marine Explorers (YME) through a $26,000 award from UNESCO, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational Training.
