‘Smart Start’ Initiative Launched for Students

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Help is being offered to public school students throughout The Bahamas who have been impacted by COVID-19.  The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) through the Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational Training launched the ‘Smart Start’ programme (#don’tcountusout) July 18, 2022 at the Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational Training. The Workforce Readiness Certificate Programme has been rolled out in Grand Bahama and will also be offered in several Family Islands beginning this summer and fall. Mother and Son Graduate from BTVI Together

Mark Fraser (L) and his mother, Kelcene Kelly (R), were among the 226 graduates in BTVI ’s New Providence class of 2022. When Mark Fraser crossed the stage to receive his certificate, his mother, Kelcene Kelly, was not cheering for him from the audience like other parents and supporters. Instead, she was adorned in graduation regalia and sitting nearby as a fellow member of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute’s (BTVI) Class of 2022. The mother and son duo are a part of the 226 graduates of the New Providence Class of 2022, who earned a wide variety of certificates, diplomas and degrees. BTVI Class of 2022 celebrated for their achievements

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Graduates of the Class of 2022 of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) were honored for their accomplishments during the Spring Commencement exercise.  They accepted certificates, diplomas and degrees during the institute’s graduation ceremonies, Thursday, June 16, at Bahamas Faith Ministries International. The Hon. Zane Lightbourne, Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Technical & Vocational Training, headed the list of dignitaries at the celebration.  Lorraine Armbrister, Permanent Secretary; board of directors, senior government officials, industry partners, faculty, administrators, well-wishers and family were also present.
