State Reception Celebrates the 49th Independence Anniversary of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas

NASSAU, The Bahamas – A State Reception was held celebrating the 49th Independence Anniversary of Commonwealth of The Bahamas, under the theme “Proud to be Bahamian”. The event was staged at Baha Mar Convention Centre on Monday, July 11, 2022, which was observed as the holiday. Scores of guests gathered in the convention centre which was adorned with Bahamian flags hanging from the ceiling and attached to walls and columns with patriotic fervour.  An added attraction was that of artists painting images on site. Bahamas holds 49th Grand Independence Celebrations with return to Clifford Park

NASSAU, The Bahamas – For the 49th time the aquamarine, gold and black Flag was hoisted at historic Clifford Park ushering in another year of Independence of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, under the theme: “Proud To Be Bahamian”. It was also the first time in two years that the country was able to assemble at Clifford, as the COVID-19 pandemic prevented such a rich historic tradition from happening. First Distinguished Lecture Series Held, Celebrating Bahamas 49th Independence

NASSAU, The Bahamas – As part of The Bahamas 49th Independence Celebrations, under the theme ‘Proud to Be Bahamian’, the first in a series of Distinguished Lectures was held Tuesday, July 5, 2022. The lecture took place at the Harry C. Moore Library of the University of The Bahamas under the theme: “The Road to Independence”. Distinguished Guest Lecturers were Evangelist Rex Major, OBE, MM, and Rev. Dr. Philip Rahming, OBE, CB, JP.  Both spoke about their experiences growing up pre-independence and, thereafter, in an independent Bahamas as of Independence Day, July 10, 1973. 49th Independence Anniversary Celebrations Kick Off with National Pride Day

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Under the theme: “Proud to Be Bahamian”, the National Independence Secretariat is set to kick off the 49th Independence Celebrations on Friday, July 1, 2022. In its efforts to promote pride and unity throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the Secretariat is encouraging a National Flag Raising Ceremony be held at all Government, and private corporate offices. This ceremony should be staged at 9am on the Friday, simultaneously. Bahamians are urged to wear the national colours of aquamarine, gold and black and assemble together as the National Flag is being hoisted and to sing the National Anthem, followed by a prayer.
