242 Day

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The 50th Independence Anniversary Secretariat staged a “242 Day Pop-Up” at the Independence Roundabout on East Street South and East West Highway on Friday, February 24, 2023. Members of the committee led by the Chair, Her Excellency Leslia Miller-Brice, were out in the national colors of Aquamarine, Gold and Black and gifted surprised motorists with the Independence Logo patterned gold-coloured souvenir bag, with commemorative trinkets inside. Friday was dubbed “242Day”, after the country’s area code, and Bahamians were urged to wear national colors, eat local cuisine, drink local teas and beverages, and to celebrate what makes them proud to be Bahamian.
