Paving works on Gladstone Road corridor progressing steadily

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Gladstone Road paving project is progressing steadily. Now into the third week of paving, Bahamix General Manager, Ryan Rahming said the work, which is scheduled in phases, is moving more smoothly than anticipated and expected to soon reach the half-way mark — just beyond Fire Trail Road. The project’s scope of works begins at Rubis, Gladstone Road and ends at Carmichael Road.  “The work entails using a milling machine to remove a specific depth of old asphalt surface [which] we cut down to an inch-and a-half. We truck that away and lay an inch-and-half of fresh asphalt. We [then] compact and roll it to the existing line and level,” said Mr. Rahming. Department of Housing’s Rent-to-Own initiative to expand path to homeownership

NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis, Minister of Transport and Housing, announced ‘A Place To Call Home’ rent-to-own initiative as part of the government’s promise of new opportunities during her communication to the House of Assembly, October 5, 2022. “In our party’s Blueprint for Change, we committed to the implementation of a Rent-To-Own initiative to expand the path to homeownership for Bahamians,” said Minister Coleby-Davis. The Department of Housing is currently reviewing over 1,200 active applications for housing. Each customer service representative at the department is currently managing over 350 applications. Bahamas Maritime Week celebrated with an exhibit at the Mall at Marathon

NASSAU, The Bahamas — In celebration of Bahamas Maritime Week, an exhibit was launched, September 26, 2022 at the Mall at Marathon. At the opening ceremony, Minister of Transport and Housing the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis addressed maritime industry officials and members of the public viewing the exhibit, which prominently featured the careers of Bahamas Maritime Cadets, who are young people taking scholarship opportunities to earn certifications, and participate in exciting maritime endeavours.
