Lie-in-State Ceremonies at the Senate for the Late Edward Andrew ‘Dud’ Maynard

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Lie-in-State ceremonies for former Senator and Parliamentarian the late Edward Andrew ‘Dud’ Maynard are being held today in the Foyer of the Senate, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., where members of the public may sign the Book of Condolence and pay last respects. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation the Hon. Disaster Risk Reduction Management Bill tabled in the House of Assembly

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Government of The Bahamas moved to address new legislation that is expected to lead to “a more agile regime” insofar as the country’s comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction Management Strategy is concerned, by tabling the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Bill (Short Title) in the House of Assembly (Wednesday, November 16, 2022). New National Health Insurance Bill, 2022 laid in the House

NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Minister of Health and Wellness the Hon. Government signs $250 Million HOA for South Long Island Development

NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Heads of Agreement signed between The Bahamas Government, and Azul Destinations Ltd. and Calypso Cove Destinations Ltd. for the development of a multi-million dollar project in South Long Island, was deemed “A Gold Letter Day” for investments in the country. Prime Minister Tables Public Procurement Bill 2022 in the House of Assembly

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis tabled the Public Procurement Bill 2022, in the House of Assembly on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. This came on the heels of the launch of GoBonfire eProcurement Platform through which goods and services for all government and quasi-government will be sourced, with the objective of providing a higher level of accountability. NASSAU, The Bahamas — A State Memorial Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for our Late Sovereign Queen Elizabeth II was held at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, October 2, 2022. A procession of all Law Enforcement Agencies and Parliamentarians preceded the Church Service, departing Rawson Square, Bay Street. Anglican Bishop of The Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands, the Right Reverend Laish Boyd, Sr., addressed the congregation. Bahamas Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander also attended and gave remarks. There were remarks by Governor General His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Cornelius A. Smith, and by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis, KC.

Luncheon held to commemorate 293rd Anniversary of Bahamas Parliament

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis, and Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition the Hon. Michael Pintard brought remarks, on September 29, 2022, at a Parliamentary Luncheon on the Occasion of the 293rd Anniversary of the Establishment of the Parliament of the Bahamas. The luncheon was held at Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island. Among those present were: Governor General His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Cornelius A. Smith; current and former Members of Parliament and Senators; all former Prime Ministers; programme moderator Ambassador to CARICOM Her Excellency Leslia Miller-Brice; senior Government officials; and stakeholders.
