NASSAU, The Bahamas — An Official Funeral Service was held for the late Vernon J. Symonette, CMG, former Cabinet Minister, Speaker of the House of Assembly and Parliamentarian at Zion Baptist Church, July 29, 2022, attended by Governor General His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Cornelius A. Smith, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis, Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Michael Pintard, and government officials, who paid their last respects. Minister of Education and Technical & Vocational Training the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin presented the National Flag to Mr. Symonette ‘s widow — Mrs. Phyllis Symonette, at the conclusion of the ceremonies. Interment will take place on Saturday, August 6, in Great Inagua.

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Governor General His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Cornelius A. Smith paid last respects to the family of the late Vernon J. Symonette, CMG, former Cabinet Minister, Speaker of the House of Assembly and Parliamentarian at his lie-in-state in the Foyer of the House of Assembly on Thursday morning, July 28, 2022.  The Governor General offers condolences to Mr. Symonette ‘s widow, Mrs. Phyllis Symonette.  The Official Funeral Service for Mr. Symonette will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Zion Baptist Church, broadcast live via the ZNS radio network, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place on Saturday August 6, 2022 in Great Inagua.
