NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Customs and Immigration Union signed a three year industrial agreement with the government Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the Office of the Prime Minister. Speaking on behalf of the government was the Hon. Labour & Immigration Minister Conducts First Official Tour of Ministerial Offices In Exuma

Thursday, 25 August 2022 – The Minister of Labour and Immigration the Honourable Keith R. Bell conducted his first official tour of the offices of the Department of Labour, the Department of Immigration and the National Training Agency in Exuma on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Minister Bell had an opportunity to visit the various offices and see first-hand the working conditions of staff employed in the various Departments. NTA held graduation ceremony for Cohort 19 under the theme, ‘Investing in You’

NASSAU, The Bahamas — The National Training Agency (NTA) held a graduation ceremony for Cohort 19 Thursday, July 28, 2022 at its vocational activities and convention centre, Gladstone Road.  Held under the theme “Investing in You,” the ceremony was addressed by former Minister of Labour, D. Shane Gibson. Mr. Gibson told the graduates whatever your job, always be the best and work the hardest at it, because your attitude determines your altitude. The NTA, which is mandated to provide training skills to young Bahamians, announced that 21 of its graduates were employed upon completion of its four-week soft skills and 10-week practical skills training.  Graduates received certificates and pins. Airport Authority union members on illegal strike, urged to ‘return to work, forthwith’

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Approximately 57 members of staff of the Airport Authority in New Providence and 170 in the Family Islands, who are members of the BPSU, did not report to their normal shift on Monday morning, July 18.  In a press conference the same morning at the Ministry of Labour, Minister of Labour and Immigration the Hon. Labour and Immigration Minister Joins ILO In Observing World Day Against Child Labour

Monday, 13 June 2022 – The Minister of Labour and Immigration the Honourable Keith R. Bell joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the observance of World Day Against Child Labour on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.  ‘Child labour’ is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential, and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development.
