UB re-establishes the College of Tourism, Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Leisure Management

The University of The Bahamas (UB) held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Re-establishment of the College of Tourism, Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Leisure Management (The CALM) on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Oakes Field Campus. UB President Dr. Rodney Smith cut the ribbon along with Acting Director General of Tourism Latia Duncombe to officially declare the college open. Dr. Smith announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of South Carolina, Beaufort, which is in the top ten of tourism and hospitality studies in the United States. Youth Minister Issues Challenge to Young Men During Annual Conference in GB

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Mario Bowleg threw out a challenge to a church filled with boys and young men: “You could be a thermostat, or you could be a thermometer. A thermostat controls its environment and a thermometer adapts to its environment. Bahamas Receives Another Batch of PPE From China for COVID-19 Fight

The Commonwealth of the Bahamas received another batch of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the People’s Republic of China, in the continued fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. A Handover Ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation at the Center of Commerce, British Colonial Hilton. An agreement to this effect was signed by the Hon. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, and Her Excellency Dai Qingli, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas.
